Rules of the Jacks or Better Game

The game features two types of in-game currency units. Coins are used to place your bets but they are immediately converted into credits by using the cost factor. The balance system is figured out in such a way that as the multiplier changes within the range of 0.02 to 5, the amount of in-game currency units in your balance will change within the range from 50 to 200 coins respectively. The cost factor of one coin, which is equal to one credit, will further be used in the description of card combinations. At the same time your current balance will amount to 1,000 credits.

Setting the Bet and Starting the Game

Click on the Bet One button to set your bet for a game. You can adjust this value within the range of 1 to 5 credits. The bet that you have selected is what determines the amount of your winnings for card combinations.

Click on the Deal button to confirm your bet and automatically launch the process of generating the card symbols on the game screen. The game screen of the video poker features 5 positions aligned horizontally for 5 cards.

Click on the Max Bet button to set your bet for each game, which will be 5 credits and to launch the dealing process without any confirmation.

Once the cards have been dealt on the game screen, you can leave from 0 to 5 cards in the layout by using the Hold buttons under each of the five positions. You can also hold the cards in this slot by simply clicking on one of them. The card fixed on the game screen is put in a frame with an appropriate sign that says "Card held". Click on the Hold button the second time or on the card itself to release it.

Click on the Deal button the second time to replace the cards except for the ones that you held. Your objective is to collect a combination of symbols no lower than a pair of Jacks. Minimum combination of cards earns you wins in the ratio of 1:1.

On the right side of the slot you will see a yellow arrow pointing downwards. It lists all cost factors for the coin. You can also adjust the speed of the gameplay animation by clicking on one of the three appropriate buttons.

Symbols in Jacks or Better

Jacks or Better by Betsoft uses a regular deck of 52 cards without Jokers.  The deck has 4 suits, 13 cards each. The slot features standard rules of playing a poker game.

The lowest-paying combo is a hand of at least a pair of Jacks. All card combinations of lower values are not rated as winning. Combinations of cards of higher values with the bet of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 credits pay the following:

  1. Pair of Jacks and up - 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
  2. Two pair - 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10
  3. Three of a kind (also known as trips or a set) - 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15
  4. Straight (five cards of sequential rank, not all of the same suit) - 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20
  5. Flush (five cards all of the same suit, not all of sequential rank) - 6, 12, 18, 24 and 30
  6. Full House (three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank) - 9, 18, 27, 36 and 45
  7. Four of a kind (also known as quads) - 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100
  8. Straight Flush (five cards of sequential rank, all of the same suit) - 40, 80, 120, 160 and 200
  9. Royal Flush (Straight Flush with higher-ranking cards) - 250, 500, 750, 1,000 and 4,000

The winnings for the Royal Flush at the maximum bet come as a result of a common mathematical calculation. You increase your bet by just one credit, which is a quarter of your previous amount (4 credits) and the winnings will quadruple. This is the way the developers tempt you to play with the maximum bet possible. Sure, the probability of a Royal Flush is not that great.

Gambling Round

Each time you win a game, you will be invited to double your winnings in the doubling game. The game starts when five cards are dealt by the dealer who then chooses the leftmost one. Your objective is to choose one of the four remaining cards. If your card is higher than the dealer's, you double your winnings and the game can be continued. If you choose a lower-ranking card, your credits are lost.

Jacks or Better is a classical video poker game featuring acceptable graphics. The slot looks like a virtual copy of a stationary video slot.  A simple yet convenient interface lets you run the gameplay in full. The slot also boosts your payouts for a Royal Flush with the maximum bet.
