One of the most popular dice games is Craps. It is played using a special table that has various betting areas and the aim is to guess the outcome of the dice roll. The person who is rolling the dice is called the shooter and each player that participates in the game takes turns. If a roll results in a loss then the shooter changes. You can play against two to twenty other players or against the casino.

Lotto is a game that uses special cards and chips that can be played individually. There are different variations of the game but they all use the same principle. Game cards have various numbers on them between 1 and 90 and when the numbers are randomly drawn you need to cross them off of the game card. Crossing off numbers in a specific pattern or all the numbers on your game card will result in a win.

Types of Casino Games

All the games you'd expect to find at an online casino are available to play here. Just select the type of game you're interested in be it slots, cards, roulette or craps and choose from the games selection available and play. Below is a short description of each game type available at online casinos. More detailed information is available for each game in our individual game reviews and we've also written numerous articles on game theory and game strategies.

Slot Games

Most online slots or 'fruit machines' (or bandits to some of us) have an easy to understand control panel. A bet buton, a plus and a minus sign to increase and decrease the bet, a max bet button and a spin button. Gambling games for iPhone and Android may not have a control panel. This is enough to get started, other functions will normally become obvious as the game proceeds. For example, many slots have an additional 'risk game' sometimes referred to as a 'double or nothing game'. Risk games give you the chance of doubling your win by selecting, for instance, red or black on the turn of a single card. For anything more complicated than that, there is generally a 'Rules' button which will prove you with access to a full description of the intricacies of the game.

Casino Table Games

Traditional casino table games are all those games you may have seen in Hollywood blockbusters set in Las Vegas, including: dice games like craps and roulette, card games such as blackjack, poker and baccarat. Fancy a little company while you play? Live games with live dealers are also a great way to make your game that much more social with real people in real time.

Blackjack games

Blackjack, sometimes called 21 or referred to as pontoon (although this is a variant of blackjack and not a distinct game in itself). The aim of the game is to beat the dealer's number without going past 21. How? By forming a hand with more points than the dealer by taking two initial cards and deciding to stick with them and the points they have or to take more cards. But beware, more than 21 points and you go bust automatically (as can the dealer). An element of skill is involved in this game.

Baccarat games

Baccarat is a card game. There are three types of bet in Baccarat, bets on the player's hand, the banker's hand or a tie between them both. Two hands are dealt. The point system in this game is simple. Ace is 1 point, 10s and face cards are 0 points and all other cards provide points according to their face value. But it doesn't stop there. If the points reach double digits, then you drop the left digit. For example, if you get a 7 and a 6 = 13, you drop the left digit and the value of your hand is 3. There are also special rules for being dealt a third card although this happens automatically so you do not need to know the rules for third cards to get going. That said, for the sake of completeness, examples of when a third card will be dealt include when the player's two cards produce a score of between 0-5 points, 0-2 point from a banker's hand (sometimes with points between 3-6).

Poker games

Poker is a card game often played with a deck of 52 cards, or multiple decks of 52 cards with players forming 5 card hands. Unlike blackjack which has a fairly straight forward point system, in poker you can form different combinations of cards to form hands which are ranked with the highest ranked hands beating lower ranked hands. For example, a royal flush, being 10, jack, queen, ace would win over three of a kind which would be, for instance three 3s and any two other cards. For further details see our text on how to play poker. It is also worthwhile consulting the rules of the actual poker game you decide to play as rules can vary from one poker game to the next.

Video Poker uses flash animation and often combines featured typical of online slots including reels and animation to creature a more dynamic game. You may or may not see traditional cards, but the traditional card numbers and winning combinations will be prevalent throughout video poker games.

Roulette games

Roulette is a casino table game with a spinning roulette wheel which has numbered slots. The roulette table has numbers in betting areas which correspond to the numbers shown on the wheel. The aim of the game is to place bets on the numbered betting areas or fields on the table and in the hope that the number or one of the numbers that you choose will come up when the ball falls into one of the numbered slots on the wheel which makes it the winning number for that round. There are a number of different betting options and roulette strategiesю

Bingo games

This fun game is played with a bingo card with 15 numbers between 1-90. Numbers between 1-90 are then drawn by a random number generator. The aim of the game is to mark off each number drawn at random whenever it appears on your bingo card. The faster your 15 numbers are marked off, the higher the prize will be. So if it takes 85 draws to mark off all your numbers, you might win 1.25 credits whereas if you manage to mark off all 15 numbers with the first 15 balls drawn then you'll win 10000.00 credits.

Craps games

James Bond's favourite casino game. There are over a hundred distinct bets available in this game but just knowing one or two can get you playing a genuinely fast and furious game. Online craps has you as the shooter, the person throwing the dice. And you can place the come out bet. More complicated bets are explained in our guide to craps. Very often, this game is easily picked up as you go along with the game itself guiding you through which bets are available to you at which point in the game. The game will have a table showing information for prizes for any given number of balls chosen. 20 numbers will be chosen by the random number generator (RNG).
