Bally Technologies Company

In 1968 two entrepreneurs, Jack Solomon and Alvin Snapper founded Advanced Patent Technology, which today is known as Bally Technologies. In 1979 the company entered the gaming technologies market and soon acquired United Coin Machine Company which at the time was one of the major slot machine operators in the USA.

Advanced Patent Technology then opened a hotel named Colorado Belle in the city of Laughlin, it was one of the first hotels with a casino. In 1980 Nevada Securities and Exchange Commission accused the company of incomplete disclosure of financial records and sales of unregistered assets. After the investigation Mr. Solomon had to resign from the office as Chairman so that the casino could be licensed. Mr. Solomon was replaced by three other people on the Board of Directors.

Richard Iannone has been President since 1981. Mr. Iannone cut the company's expenses and pulled it out of debt. In March 1983 the name was changed to Gaming and Technology Inc., and Colorado Belle hotel was sold for $4,000,000 USD. The company merged with Omega Enterprises in January 1985 via a subsidiary, Cal Omega, and the CEO was Alfred Wilms, one of Omega’s owners. In 1986, Cal Omega’s operation in Carlsbad closed down, owing to a fall in sales of slot machines. In 1988, the company rebranded as United Gaming Inc.

In 1989 the company entered the casino industry and started to actively fill the gambling halls with its slot machines.
